The Košice District Court acquitted police officers accused of abusing Roma boys reasoning that the crime did not take place as alleged, and the prosecution thus failed to prove the abuse. The prosecutor has appealed the verdict.

The written comments provide actual information on occurrence of police ill-treatment against Roma minority during arrest or while in custodial detention and describe deficiencies in investigation process of such cases in Slovakia.

These written comments focus on violations of the rights of Roma minority in Slovakia under the particular articles of the International Convention on the Elimination All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
