Slovak Constitutional Court has compensated Roma, who for almost thirteen years have been unsuccessfully seeking redress for discrimination.

The Constitutional Court has compensated four Roma who have been unsuccessfully seeking redress for discrimination for almost thirteen years.They filed a lawsuit claiming they faced discrimination on a ground of their ethnic origin in November 2005, when they were refused to be served by the staff of local bar in a village near Vranov nad Topľou in Eastern Slovakia. The Constitutional Court found several errors in the procedure of the general courts, which led to unnecessary delays in the proceedings and awarded each of the Roma complainants compensation of EUR 1000 and refund of legal costs.

At a meeting in Košice, Roma women were getting ready for the monitoring cases of discrimination.

On 5 - 6 June 2019, together with Roma woman activist Veronika from Jarovnice, we attended a meeting of representatives of Roma women's NGOs in Brussels. The meeting was organized by the Center for Reproductive Rights following the meeting of the previous year in Zagreb.

At a meeting with Roma women in Prešov, on 29 May 2019 we worked on complaints addressed to the Public Defender of Rights. Some of the Roma women decided to contact her after they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of her office during a personal meeting in March 2019.

The Constitutional Court has compensated Roma man, who since 2014 has been unsuccessfully seeking redress for racial discrimination in access to employment. The District Court in Trnava did not deal with his case for years. The Constitutional Court granted the discriminated man a compensation of EUR 2,000 for backlog in his court proceeding.
