On 4 September 2019, representatives of the NGO Forum for Human Rights were invited to the Roma women meeting in Košice. They presented to Roma women the activities of the project that we are implementing together. In the discussion, Roma women pointed out problems with access to drinking water and waste management they face in marginalized Roma communities. They talked about their own experiences and also about experiences they had encountered in other localities. They also pointed to shortcomings of state institutions and local governments in this area. Some of the women also expressed their interest in working together to address shortcomings in this area through legal means of protection.
We organized this meeting as part of the project Combating Discrimination and Advancing Minority Rights in Slovakia - Reflections and Lessons with financial support from Open Society Foundations.
